Faecal worm egg counts
We now have facilities to carry out in-house faecal worm egg counts. With resistance to main classes of wormers increasing, the focus is on reducing the dependence on wormers.
To achieve this we must know the worm burden on the farm, to help decide whether worming is necessary.
We should always take a selection of samples up to 10 as fresh as possible, keep all samples separate.
The great advantage of having our in-house laboratory is the speed in which we can carry out these tests and the results back to you within 24 hours.
Occasionally we may require a second opinion, we will then send away a second test with the results taking up to 72 hours.
We will then advise you, depending on the laboratory results as to what cause of action to take with your worming programme.
